A Look at the Journey

Itinerary

Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with a transfer from Moshi to Londorossi Gate for registration and final preparations.
Continue by vehicle toward the Lemosho trailhead before beginning the trek through the montane rainforest.
The trail passes through lush vegetation where blue monkeys, colobus monkeys, and forest birds may occasionally be seen.
Arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp for dinner and your first night on Mount Kilimanjaro.

After breakfast, leave the forest and continue climbing toward Kilimanjaro's open moorland.
The landscape gradually changes as the trail reaches the Shira Plateau, providing wide views across the surrounding highlands.
Continue across the plateau toward Shira 2 Camp, with Kibo becoming increasingly visible when weather conditions are clear.

Today is an important acclimatization day.
Climb gradually toward Lava Tower, reaching approximately 4,600 meters before descending toward Barranco Camp.
This "climb high, sleep low" profile helps your body adapt to increasing altitude.
The descent takes you through beautiful alpine scenery toward Barranco Valley, where you spend the night beneath the impressive Barranco Wall.

After breakfast, begin the climb up the famous Barranco Wall.
The route involves steep sections where hands may occasionally be used for balance, but it is not a technical rock climb.
Reach the top of the wall and continue through a series of ridges and valleys toward Karanga Camp.
The shorter trekking day provides additional time for acclimatization and recovery before moving higher.

Continue climbing through increasingly dry and rocky alpine terrain toward Barafu Camp.
Arrive in time for lunch and spend the afternoon resting, organizing summit equipment, eating, and preparing mentally for the final ascent.
Your guide will provide a summit briefing before you rest early in preparation for the nighttime departure.

Wake around midnight and prepare for the most demanding section of the climb.
Begin ascending slowly through darkness toward Stella Point on the crater rim.
Continue toward Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters, the highest point in Africa.
After photographs and a short celebration at the summit, begin descending to Barafu Camp for a rest and meal before continuing lower to Mweka Camp.
This is the longest and most physically demanding day of the climb.

After breakfast, complete the final descent through Kilimanjaro's rainforest.
Arrive at Mweka Gate, where successful climbers receive their summit certificates.
Meet your transfer vehicle and return to Moshi for a shower, rest, and comfortable hotel night before beginning the safari.

After breakfast, meet your safari driver guide and begin the journey toward Tarangire National Park.
Enter the park for your first game drive among baobab trees, open savannah, woodland, and the Tarangire River ecosystem.
Tarangire is particularly known for elephants, while other possible sightings include giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, warthogs, antelopes, and lions.
Enjoy lunch during the safari before continuing toward Karatu for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, travel through the Ngorongoro highlands and continue toward the legendary Serengeti National Park.
Enjoy changing scenery as you descend from the highlands into the vast Serengeti plains.
Begin wildlife viewing as you enter the park and continue toward your lodge or tented camp.
Possible sightings include lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, cheetahs, hyenas, and many antelope species.

Spend the full day exploring the Serengeti ecosystem.
Your guide will choose suitable wildlife areas according to seasonal conditions and animal movements.
Search for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeest, zebras, hyenas, jackals, and numerous bird species.
Depending on the season and area visited, there may also be opportunities to observe parts of the Great Migration, although exact locations change naturally throughout the year.
Enjoy lunch during the safari before continuing wildlife viewing into the afternoon.

Depart early and travel toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Descend approximately 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive across one of Tanzania's most concentrated wildlife areas.
Possible sightings include lions, elephants, buffaloes, wildebeest, zebras, hippos, hyenas, gazelles, and many bird species.
There is also an opportunity to see the endangered black rhino, although sightings are not guaranteed.
Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater before ascending the crater wall and continuing toward Arusha.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your scheduled flight to Zanzibar.
Arrive on the island and meet your transfer driver for the journey to your beach hotel.
The rest of the day is available for relaxation beside the Indian Ocean after your Kilimanjaro climb and safari adventure.
Enjoy the beach, swimming pool, tropical surroundings, and peaceful island atmosphere.

After breakfast, enjoy a cultural day exploring some of Zanzibar's best-known experiences.
Visit Stone Town, where narrow streets, historic architecture, markets, carved doors, and Swahili-Arab heritage tell the story of the island's long trading history.
Continue with a spice experience to learn about cloves, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, tropical fruits, and other plants associated with Zanzibar's spice heritage.
Later, return to your beach hotel.

Enjoy a relaxed day on Zanzibar's tropical coast.
Spend time swimming, walking along the beach, relaxing beside the Indian Ocean, or enjoying your hotel facilities.
Optional activities such as snorkeling, diving, dhow sailing, dolphin excursions, or other marine experiences can be arranged separately depending on your interests and location.
This day provides time to recover and enjoy the final stage of your Tanzania grand tour.

Enjoy your final breakfast and free time according to your flight schedule.
Later, transfer from your hotel to Zanzibar International Airport for your departure flight.
Your 15 Day Tanzania Grand Tour Kilimanjaro Safari and Zanzibar 2026-2027 ends after experiencing Africa's highest mountain, Tanzania's famous wildlife areas, and the beaches of Zanzibar.
