About This Journey

The 8 Day Zanzibar Island Explorer 2026-2027 is a complete island journey combining Zanzibar's history, culture, wildlife, spice heritage, marine scenery and famous tropical beaches.

Begin in Stone Town, the historic heart of Zanzibar and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stone Town is recognized for its Swahili urban character and architecture shaped by African, Arab, Indian and European influences over many centuries.

Continue with a boat excursion to Prison Island, before traveling through Zanzibar's green countryside to explore a traditional spice farm.

The journey then visits Jozani Chwaka Bay, an important protected forest area and the best-known habitat of the endemic Zanzibar red colobus monkey. Jozani-Chwaka Bay also appears on Tanzania's UNESCO Tentative List.

Continue to Paje on Zanzibar's southeast coast for relaxed beach time before crossing the island toward the famous northern beaches of Nungwi and Kendwa.

With seven nights and eight days, this itinerary allows travelers to explore several sides of Zanzibar while maintaining enough free time for swimming and relaxation.
